INFORMATION FOR UNIVERSITY CENTRES

Aluni is a business that manages housing for students and young professionals in Spain (actually in Madrid and Valencia ). It works closely with the International Relations Office of major European and American universities, both public and private, as well as with businesses that sponsor student interns from other cities.

All of the apartments offered to students by Aluni boast certain common services/features (such as cleaning, repairs, etc.), as well as adequate household goods and furniture, as is outlined in the Aluni Room and Board Contract . Also, almost all apartments have broad-band internet connection in each bedroom.

Upon signing the contract for his/her room, the student is not held responsible for filling any remaining bedrooms in the apartment. Aluni undertakes the duty of grouping students according to the preferences of each one, thus achieving a homogenous environment. As much as possible, Aluni seeks to mix Spanish-speaking students with students who speak other languages, so as to facilitate the language-learning process, while simultaneously offering a unique opportunity for all students involved to learn more about other cultures.

It is not necessary for students to commit themselves to rent long-term. Typically, from April 1 until October 1 most apartment owners permit stays of thirty days or more. From October 2 until March 30, normally the minimum-allowed stay is three months, although sometimes exceptions are made.

Each student can process his or her apartment reservation completely from his/her home city, by internet, and then arrive directly to the apartment which he/she had reserved. With Aluni, therefore, it is not necessary to make an extra trip in advance to search for housing. Each student receives detailed information about each apartment by Internet, including photographs and maps Additionally, Aluni can put students in contact with previous boarders of the apartment in consideration, if they would like.

The apartments are always located near public transportation stations (buses, Metro, etc.), thus allowing for direct access to universities.

Living in apartments is a good bit more economical than living in 'Colegios Mayores', or university housing (dormitories). Additionally, most foreign exchange students prefer the independence and responsibility that comes with living in a shared apartment.

Aluni is more than an intermediary between students and apartment owners because, in addition to setting students up with apartments, it also oversees that the contracts are fulfilled until the last day of the student's stay, acting as a referee should any conflicts arise. In this way, it is Aluni that holds onto your initial deposit money, instead of the apartment owner.

There are three types of housing : students only, with a family, or living with an elderly or sick person.

Students coming from Universities or Businesses that have signed the Collaboration Agreement with Aluni will receive a 40% discount on each boarding contract that the sign.
